David Bowie’s Son Duncan Disses Lady Gaga After Grammys Tribute — Why?

Though the reaction to Lady Gaga’s tribute to David Bowie at The Grammys was generally positive, his son, Duncan Jones, was NOT impressed. The director sounded off on Twitter about Gaga’s performance, and got a little feisty! Click through to see his tweet!

Lady Gaga put on one hell of a performance honoring the late, great David Bowie at the Grammy Awards on February 15, but Duncan Jones just wasn’t feeling it. The direction, and Bowie’s son, shaded Gaga on Twitter without actually calling her out by name. Click through to see what he said!

“overexcited or irrational, typically as a result of infatuation or excessive enthusiasm; mentally confused.” Damn it! What IS that word!?” Duncan tweeted. He means “gaga.” Get it? Lady Gaga? Duncan’s play on words is a slam toward Gaga’s admittedly manic performance at the 2016 Grammy Awards, which managed to cram nine of Bowie’s hits into just minutes. It was a whirlwind, technicolor performance, but we can see why Duncan would be sensitive about viewing it. His father only died a month ago!
Gaga has been very open about her love for Bowie, whom she’s called her hero and her muse. She recently even got a tattoo of the legend on her side! Her highly-anticipated performance at The Grammys was a cumulation of everything about Bowie. She went full Ziggy Stardust, wearing fiery orange spiked hair, powder blue eyeshadow, and a menagerie of space age outfits — just like Bowie. She ran through incredible hits like “Space Oddity,” “Fame,” “Rebel Rebel,” and six more of his best-known hits.

It was a sight to behold, her incredible voice and costumes backed up by creative holograms and visual effects. Here’s the thing, though: she ran through those songs so fast, and barely spent a second on each! You didn’t get a chance to hear her give any of them justice! That may be what Duncan’s talking about when he calls it “overexcited,” or cites “excessive enthusiasm.” But really, he doesn’t even need a reason not to like it; this is his father, and he’s going to be very protective. Still, calling Gaga “mentally confused” is pretty harsh!
